INCA Clothing draws inspiration from the remarkable story of the Grové family, beginning with Willem Abraham Grové, the “Sapa Inca,” who faced South Africa’s harshest economic times with resilience and determination. His son, Louis Andries Grové, carried that spirit forward by opening a small restaurant in Aliwal North. Struggling to afford a large sign, he chose the name “INCA”—short, simple, and evocative of the traditional Indian spur, giving the restaurant a strong, memorable identity without breaking the bank.

Fast forward to 2020, and Louis’s sons, Willie and Louis Jr., launched INCA Clothing, rooted in the century-old heritage of Awerbuchs, one of South Africa’s most respected clothing retailers. Our brand was created to serve the hardworking people of South Africa, focusing on farmers, agricultural workers, and outdoor enthusiasts who demand clothing and footwear that can withstand tough conditions while still looking stylish.
